About Author

Hi, I'm Rafi.  Originally from Belgium.  I have an MS degree in Computer Science from Columbia University.
While I've been a software engineer and a manager at hi-tech firms for many years, I was also always busy doing music, video, and photography.

I also manage a few YouTube channels that I own and I teach online courses.
And, since I'm in Europe, that also gives me the time to trade the US stock market for a few hours in the afternoon and I've been actively trading for many years now.

I've been using the Macintosh computer since the early days of the Mac Plus and I always enjoyed all the software and tools that this platform provided us.  Over the years these tools allowed us to produce more and more professional products on our own using our personal computers.  Things that once required big studios, you can do today at home using relatively cheap software.

I'm very passionate about everything creative that I do, and that certainly includes audio and video work.
On the audio side, I have experienced with different DAWs until I finally settled on Apple's Logic Pro.  I compose, play, arrange, and sing.
On the video side, it really started as a hobby with the first release of iMovie.  At the time I was using a tape-based DV camera.  But iMovie was the first video editor that allowed anyone to do magic.  Suddenly there was a way to use the hours of footage that we all recorded on vacations and other occasions, and produce a much shorter and cool movie that people would actually be willing to sit and watch.  I was hooked right away.

Over time I used all versions of iMovie and at some point I made the jump to Final Cut Pro X, I opened a company called Syncopa Productions, I started producing professional movies for clients and I opened some YouTube channels.

With iMovie, I was often frustrated because of iMovie's limitations.  But my creative mind came up with tricks and solutions to overcome these.  I'm never satisfied until what I do is perfect.  That led me to find solutions to perform quasi-professional editing that you normally can only do with more expensive and more professional software.

I use that same perfectionism in my teaching.  I taught many people on many different subjects, in hi-tech and in private situations.  I could never rest until I knew for sure that the subject matter has been understood completely.

I think you'll find that trait in my lectures as well.  I am unable to teach something partially.  I won't just skim over a subject.  Whatever I teach, I'll cover it completely so you'll fully understand the subject.

I truly hope you will indeed learn from the knowledge that I'm sharing with you and that you'll apply that knowledge in your own life.
